The Monument-based Ashtōnz (pronounced “Ash-tones”; it’s a long story!) have been entertaining audiences―and themselves―along the Front Range since 2013, delivering a listener-friendly mix of rock, pop, country, and blues covers along with original compositions. The band’s trademark is its “reverently irreverent” approach to performance and commitment to a contagious level of musical merriment. “Good enough to be fun, but not so good that it’s not,” is how lead singer/guitarist Charlie Searle describes the music, noting that the band measures its success in SPH (“Smiles Per Hour”).

The Joy on the Rock Band plays every Sunday morning at Joy on the Rock in Palmer Lake at 10:00 am. We originally started playing dinner concerts about 10 years ago in the Town Hall featuring classic rock favorites, albeit with our own ‘family friendly’ lyrics. For those people who might be interested in God and spiritual things but aren’t comfortable in the typical church setting, we morphed our concerts into Sunday mornings and started providing a ‘lively if not downright rocky’ service for those who might be looking for an alternative worship experience. Who said church can’t be fun!
